The mexican handcraft

Millenary activity from the precolombian age, the mexican handcraft is unique by its rich colours and variety and specially by its diversity of material and styles (different for each region, is well known all around the world.

Today, the mexican handcraft includes ceramics (majolica, talavera, etc), textile, lacquerware, silversmith, saddlery, basketwork, wood furniture and many other wood objects, the silver jewels, the metal ( cast iron, silver) , masks, stone, blown glass, clay and many kinds of toys. These handcrafts objects has been created for the daily life, for decoration or even for ritual events (masks) and has been entirely hand-made. So, each object is unique.

Mexico is full of big craft towns like Uruapan, Guadalajara, Taxco, Oaxaca and many others. At south west near Guadalajara, you can find the cities of Tlaquepaque an Tonalá which are the biggest craft centers in Mexico. Here the numeorus stores like in the Hidalgo avenue in Tonalá where people from all around the world come to buy its poteries and blown glass.
